DTSC approval of the Action Memo for Time Critical Removal Action for Installation Restoration Site 12 located at the former Naval Station Treasure Island pursuant to authority granted under Chapter 6.8, Division 20, California Health & Safety Code. The purpose of this AM/TCRA is to implement removal actions for portions of Site 12 that are protective of public health and safety and the environment. Soil and groundwater contamination was found from debris that was disposed during the Navy's operations at Site 12. The project includes removal action at the following three areas within Site 12: 1) gateview total petroleum hydrocarbon area; 2) discrete locations within the southern portion of site 12; and 3) haylburn court area. The project will address potential risks to current and future site occupants from exposure to polychlorinated biphenyls, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, dioxins, and lead in soil by soil excavation and offsite disposal. Approximately 21,300 cy of contaminated soil will be removed from the site.
