The proposed Project will help the City Increase recycled water production and meet new permit requirements. The Project involves the demolition of existing structure, installation of modern equipment, upgrading the effluent cooling system, improving site drainage, incorporating public amenities at the site, and promoting research and development activities. The revised Project scope eliminated significant environment impacts in construction of a new stormwater outfall and the cooling wetlands. Additional cooling towers will be constructed instead of wetlands, andthe chlorine contact channels and equalization tanks will be repurposed for additional recycled water storage. Expansion of the equalization basin and the use membrane bioreactor technology for secondary treatment will occur on previusly disturbed land within the main portion of the Project site.
