Document Description
The primary purpose of the project is removal of solid waste. The Project will mediate the limiting factors of riparian dysfunction (hardened banks from metal debris, stream bank stability, leaching of metals into waterways, impaired sediment transport). The species likely to benefit from this project include but are not limited to South-Central CA Coast steelhead Distinct Population Segment (Oncorhynchus mykiss) and CA red-legged frog (Rana draytonii), both species are designated as a threatened species pursuant to the federal Endangered Species Act (ESA) (16 U.S.C § 1531 et seq.) and are state-designated Species of Special Concern. Project includes removal of instream debris including abandoned vehicles, vehicle parts, farm equipment and appliances from the bed and bank of Green Valley Creek. Debris will be remove dby cabling and skidding debris items on wooden skids to the top of the creek bank slope or by hand. Native vegetation is expected to rapidly recolonize disturbed areas; however, restoration of vegetative cover will be done in places that are required for soil stabilization. Approx. 0.029 acres of riparian habitat spanning 45 linear feet of will be temporarily impacted. Approx. 0.0001 acres of streambed and bank spanning 5 linear feet will be temporarily impacted. Approx. 0.0127 acres of riparian understory vegetation spanning 50 linear feet will be temporarily impacted. The stream is expected to be dry during the seasonal work period of August 15 to Oct. 31.
