Document Description
CDFW has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement No. 1600-2015-0018-R3, pursuant to section 1602 of the fish and game code to the project applicant, Sonoma Ecology Center, Mark Newhouser. The current work, which is part of a larger overall plan of action to create a healthy riparian corridor through the Preserve, will occur on a City-owned parcel and at the existing Demonstration Park that is also owned by the City of Sonoma. The primary goals for the current project are to: 1) reduce frequency and impacts of overbank flooding and erosion; 2) enhance aquatic and riparian habitat; and 3) continue to promote opportunities for community education and stewardship. This portion of the work will improve habitat and provide good, visible opportunities for public observation of stream restoration work. It will provide moderate, project-reach flood reduction but will not produce up- or downstream flood benefits.
