Document Description
Project is limited to the reconstruction of 45 linear feet of the Bayfront levee. A scour hole, approx. 48 inches to 60 inches in depth, has developed within the levee which has caused rock rip-rap and engineered fill to be washed away. The levee will be grubbed for large rocks and unsuitable soil and scarified to a depth of one foot below the existing scour hole. Imported fill will be placed to reconstruct the original grade of the levee. A layer of geo-fabric will be placed over the earthen levee followed by rock riprap sized to withstand the wave forces from the SF Bay. All work will be performed at low tide to reduce the potential for entrapping fish. A pump will be placed in the excavation area which will pump any water into a settling tank before being discharged into the bay. Any materials that settle in the tank will be disposed of at a landfill in compliance with applicable policies and regulations. Issuance of a Streambed Alteration Agreement No. 1600-2014-0048-R3 is pursuant to Fish and Game Code Section 1602.
