Document Description
The City of Colusa owns and operates a municipal water system, consisting of five "operating" groundwater wells, two elevated tanks, a distribution and transport system. In addition, there are two private wells within the Walnut Ranch Subdivision (within the City) that have failed due to age and contamination. The City supplies water to the Walnut Ranch subdivision via an emergency inner-tie which was set up years prior. Three of the City's five "operating" wells are experiencing contamination, thus the City is exploring two options: 1) Provide treatment for the wells; 2) Locate an additional groundwater source supply. The latter proposal is contemplated being explored with this project by drilling test wells at locations in the City where the City already owns the land. This could lead to the consolidation of the Walnut Ranch System fully into the City's water system, subject to further environmental review in compliance with CEQA.
