Document Description
This project proposes to replace the Floriston Sand and Salt House with a new Sand House located within state right of way off westbound I-80 in Truckee, PM 19.0 to 19.4. The Floriston Sand and Salt House has deteriorated with time. Several problems have been identified indicating the building has reached the end of its service life. Environmental, stormwater and archeological issues constrain possible repair of the facility and have lead to the recommendation for replacement of the Sand and Salt House. Failure to replace the structure could result in material supply delays causing extended road closures impacting the health and safety of the traveling public.
