Document Description
Replacement of the existing Monterey County Juvenile Hall, which was constructed in the late 1950s. Primary project components include demolition of existing buildings, renovation of an existing 30-bed housing unit, three new 30-bed housing units, a new administration building, a kitchen/laundry/warehouse building, a vehicle "sallyport" (controlled entryway), a recreation yard, a school/indoor recreation building, essential program space, and new/replacement parking. The project would be constructed in phases with existing buildings being demolished and replaced with new construction to enable continuous facility functioning. Building area would increase by 21,238 sf to 63,438 sf, but total capacity would increase by only six beds (114 to 120). Impervious area would increase by about 52 percent relative to baseline conditions.
