Document Description
The project will construct a new bridge over the Sacramento River between the Cities of Sacramento and West Sacramento to replace the functionally obsolete vehicular crossing on the historic I Street Bridge. The project will facilitate vehicular and multi-modal traffic over the river, improve safety, and remove a number of structurally deficient or functionally obsolete approach ramps/bridges that have reached the limit of their design life. The existing I Street Bridge will remain in place and continue to be used for railroad, bicycle and pedestrian crossing. Approach structures leading up to the historic bridge from both directions will be demolished and removed.
