Document Description
CDFW is intending to execute a lake and streambed alteration agreement pursuant to section 1602 of the fish and game code (#1600-2014-0071-R5) to the project applicant, Beazer East. The project proposes to alter the stream through grading to develop 52 acres of residential, 17 acres of non-residential mixed use commercial, and associated infrastructure improvements within the 251-acre property. Project activities will occur primarily in areas previously disturbed by Hanson Aggregate's former mining operation, and the majority of the undisturbed areas will be preserved in open space. The project includes relocating the primary drainage to the west of its existing location, creating a widened channel bottom and manufactured earthen slopes along both sides, and the construction of 2 soft bottom arch culvert crossings of the re-aligned channel to provide access to the future City of San Marcos park site. Riparian vegetation will be installed in the channel bottom, the riparian edge will be planted with coast live oak woodland, and the slopes will be planted with Diegan coastal sage scrub vegetation.
