Document Description
The project would widen the Route 1/Route 9 intersection to accommodate additional vehicle turn lanes, bicycle lanes, and shoulders to improve traffic operations and better accommodate the long vehicle queues that occur there. The primary improvements include: Eastbound Route 1: add a left turn lane so that two lanes will turn onto northbound Route 9; Northbound Route 9: add a concrete median, a second traffic lane, a shoulder, a bike lane, and right turn lane into the Tannery complex; Southbound Route 9: add a shared through/left-turn lane and a bike lane; Northbound River Street: change the left-turn lane to a through/left-turn lane.
