Document Description
The Leininger Ranch Stock Pond and Spring Development Project entails the development of a new stock pond to be located 1,000 southwest of the ranch's current pond that is no longer used, has been breached and is incapable of holding water. The new pond/dam infrastructure will have a storage capacity of 23.7 acre feet. The pond will be created through the construction of a 15' high 607' wide earth fill dam. A particle diaphragm filter will be installed in the centerline of the dam in order to prevent seepage around a piped spillway. Fill material for the dam will be excavated from the pond bottom. In addition, an in place pond is in need of restoration and expansion. This phase of the overall project entails moving the existing dike/fill downstream approximately 50' and rebuild it in 8" compacted lifts to a max height of 4.4'. Once this work is completed, the new storage capacity of the pond will be 17 acre feet. Finally, five existing intermittent springs will be improved by clearing silt and vegetation as well as installing small storage structures.
