Document Description
FYI Final
The Lawrence Ellison Foundation proposes to construct a Conservation Center for Wildlife Care (Conservation Center) in unincorporated Santa Clara County, California at 24103 Congress Springs Rd. Saratoga. The proposed Conservation Center would be operated by the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA (PHS/SPCA), or a separate non-profit affiliate established for such purpose, and would provide three primary programs.
1) State-of-the-art rehabilitation of inured and orphaned native wildlife.
2) Captive propagation of small, rare (endangered, threatened, or imperiled) native species, working in collaboration with U.S. Fish and Wildlife; and
3) Educational programs for children and families about native wildlife and the natural environment.
The components of the proposed project include a Public Wildlife Intake Building/Pond Ecology Station, a Wildlife Medical Facility and Education Building, an Imperil Species Breeding Facility, two cottages, and 50 wildlife enclosures. The project also includes improvements to provide access, parking, utilities and services, and landscaping.
