Document Description
Note: Extended Per Lead The proposed project involves the approx 2,850 acre Santa Susana Field Lab site located in the southeastern-most part of Ventura County and adjacent offsite locations. The Boeing Company, NASA, and DOE are the responsible parties for the investigation and cleanup of contaminants released from past activities at the project site. The 2007 Consent Order and the 2010 Administrative Orders on Consent establish the requirements for the cleanup of soil and groundwater at the project site. As a result of the separate orders, the soil cleanup requirements for Boeing areas are different from the soil cleanup requirements for DOE and NASA areas. The cleanup requirements for groundwater are derived from the 2007 Consent Order and are the same for all three RPs. The primary objective of the proposed project is to implement the 2007 Consent Order and the 2010 AOCs, and to implement other activities associated with cleanup SSFL operations. Roughly 541 acres at the project site or in immediately adjacent areas have been targeted for some level of remedial action. A variety of remedial technologies would be considered for soil cleanup, depending on the results of treatability studies.
