Document Description
The project will remove overgrown vegetation and debris in the Fresno River, within the city of Madera. The unmaintained channel has been providing cover for illegal activities and has become a risk to public safety. Over a length of approximately 2.5 miles, totaling an area of approximately 5 acres, non-native grasses, invasive tree species (such as tree of heaven), small shrubs, and debris will be removed. Large trees with canopy hanging into the channel will be trimmed back and trees in the channel may be trimmed to provide better sight distance. No riparian tree species over four inches in diameter at breast height will be removed. All work will be done using hand tools. All cuttings will be collected and disposed of at an off-site location.
