To obtain seed of Deinandra mohavensis seed from Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden to germinate and grow to flowering phase. Flowering heads of all individuals will be bagged before anthesis. The bags will be temporarily removed from subset of flowering heads and pollen will be removed from one individual to another within this group using a paintbrush. Once the seeds are ripe, the heads will be removed and all seeds will be examined for viability. The data collected will be the percentages if viable seed in self and outcross pollinations. The date will be analyzed to determine if the percentage of viable seed differs significantly within individuals, and to determine the variance in percentage of self-incompatibility among individuals and populations.
