Document Description
The project is a grant award to the County of San Luis Obispo to propose a permit streamlining program by revising the county's policies and ordinances related to renewable energy development. The County willpropose a renewable energy overlay, supported by extensive data gathering and public input, that will identify areas in the County as renewable energy combining designations. Allowable land uses in these areas will prioritize eligible renewable energy resource development over other land uses and will consists of areas with available infrastrucutre and renewable resources. The County will propose a programmatic Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the project. The goal of the project is to expand renewable energy opportunities in the County. The project benefits the public by adding certainty to the eligible renewable energy resource development process, thereby reducing the development costs for renewable energy, ensuring conservation of priority natural resources, and contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from the electric power sector.
