Document Description
SAA #1600-012-0230-R5. Replace the Firestone Boulevard Bridge over the San Gabriel River, at the adjoining city boundaries between Norwalk and Dwoney. The existing Firestone Boulevard Bridge was given a sufficiency rating of 48.9 by Caltrans and is classified as "structurally deficient" due to the conditon of the structure. The Caltrans Bridge Inspecition Repaorts describes cracks in the concrete deck and concrete spalls/exposed reinforcing in the deck softit. Other problems include major cracking and spalling in the bridge girders. The new bridge shall accommodate six lanes of traffic, a 10-foot center median, 8-foot shoulders, and sidewalks, and would improve traffic flow between the Cities of Norwalk and Downey.
