Document Description
Temporary stabilization of the Covered Bridge at South Yuba River State Park to maintain the structural integrity and prevent imminent collapse from structural failure. Work will:
* Construct two temporary steel I-beam frame towers that will be placed on existing conical abutments on each of the bridge (abutments are not a strucutral part of the historic bridge).
* Install 5 concrete dead men from which anchor cables will be attached.
* Steel cables will span from the dead men/geo anchors to the I-beam towers and from the steel towers to a supporting framework of I-beams and tensioning rods underneath the deck of the bridge for virtical stabilization.
* Attach all cables from the center of the bridge to two hex bolt geo-anchors upstream and two hex bolt geo-anchors downstream for horizontal stabilization.

Project consists of the minor alteration in the condition of land and/or vegetation which does not invovle removal of healthy, mature, scenic trees and the reconstruction, maintenance, repair and stabilization of a historic resource in a manner consistent with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties with Guidelines for Preserving, Rehabilitating, Restoring, and Reconstructing Historic Buildings (1995), Weeks and Grimmer.
