Document Description
Project includes two primary components: 1) replacement of the existing Navy Drive Bridge crossing of the San Joaquin River near Rough and Ready Island, and 2) improvements to the Navy Drive roadway approaches to the replaced bridge. To date, portions of the project have either already been completed or are partially constructed.
The project is expected to result in the permanent loss of 0.01 acre of riparian shaded riverine habitat, temporary loss of 0.02 acres of smelt habitat (Delta Smelt and Longfin Smelt) and 0.23 acres of permanent loss of smelt habitat. The project is also expected to cause the permanent loss of 1.48 acres and temporary loss of 17.62 acres of Swainson's hawk foraging habitat. Impacts of the authorized taking also include adverse impacts to the Covered Species related to temporal losses, increased habitat fragmentation and edge effects ,and the Project's incremental contribution to cumulative impacts (indirect impacts). The project is expected to result in incidental take of the above species, which is/are designated as either endangered or threatened species under CESA. The ITP referenced above as issued by CDFW authorizes incidental take of species listed under CESA that may occur as a result of Project implementation.
