Document Description
The proposed project would expand the existing San Benito County Correctional Facility by constructing an approximately 22,000 sf building adjacent to the existing facility. The new expansion would be connected to the existing facility via a secure breezeway or hallway. The project would include the construction of a new driveway and turnaround area in the northern portion of the study area, which would be used for prisoner intake and release functions. The proposed project would include new inmate housing, a medical services suite, and an intake and release suite. The addition of 60 beds could increase the inmate population by up to 60 inmates. Once fully occupied, the expanded facility would require eight additional employees.
