Document Description
The Project will repair storm water damage at two locations near the Wilder Road Interchange. Location 1: Caltrans will repair the existing asphalt drainage around an existing riser, with new concrete. A 10-square-foot concrete apron will be poured around the riser. Grout will be injected around the riser to a maximum depth of 35 feet of fill existing cavities, stabilize the ground, and prevent future water seepage. A nearby drainage inlet will be used to access the corrugated metal pipe culver 35 feet below ground and concrete will be pumped into the scoured area underneath the culvert. Location 2: A landslide approximately 140 feet long and 60 feet wide next to the westbound Wilder Road off ramp will be repaired. The slide area is approximately 24,130 square feet (0.55-acre). Approximately 720 cubic yards of existing material will be removed and reused to reconstruct the slope, using alternating layers of geosynthetic reinforcement (biodegradable plasting sheeting) and soil. An additional 1,100 cubic yards of imported borrow will be required to reconstruct the slope. To access the site, a temporary dirt road will be constructed from the Wilder Road off ramp to the top of the slide. The road will be 12 feet wide and 550 feet long and will follow the contours of an existing earthen drainage ditch.
