Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife is executing a Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement pursuant to Section 16002 of the Fish and Game Code to the Project applicant, the County of San Luis Obispo. The Project consists of stabilizing an eroded slope below Klau Mine Road adjacent to Las Tablas Creek. The Project will install an interlocking steel sheet piling retaining wall along approximately 48 feet of the road and creek. The piles will be driven into pre-excavated, hand-dug holes using a vibratory hammer suspended from a cane positioned on the roadway. Approximately 41 cubic yards of backfill will be installed behind the piles after they are set. Water might be present in the channel, but no work will occur in the wetted portion of the channel. No trees will be removed as part of this Project, but minimal trimming of trees may be necessary to facilitate access for the crane during sheet-pile installation.
