Document Description
The City of Lincoln is proposing to replace a functionally obsolete, two-lane bridge on Nelson Lane (currently without shoulders) with two two-lane bridges to accommodate projected traffic demands and to meet safety standards. Upon the opening of the SR 65 Lincoln Bypass, Nelson Lane became a major urban arterial connecting the SR 65 Bypass to the Lincoln Regional Airport and the westerly portion of the City of Lincoln. Proposed components of the project include: replacing the existing bridge with two two-lane bridges; raising the roadway and bridge profile; constructing a new two-lane northbound roadway; reconstructing the existing two-lane roadway to create a new southbound two-lane roadway; bifurcating the northbound and southbound roadways and constructing a median bioswale; and providing turning lanes at Rockwell Lane and Nicolaus Road.
