Document Description
DTSC, pursuant to regulatory authority granted under Chapter 6.8 of the Health and Safety Code (H&SC), is considering approving a draft Removal Action Workplan (RAW) that was submitted on December 19, 2012 by CH2MHill for the Stage Property Pistol Range (Site). The purpose of the proposed project is to minimize human exposure to lead-impacted soils by excavation and removal to an off-site permitted facility. The estimated volume of impacted soil planned for removal from the Site is approximately 4,800 cubic yards (yds3) or approximately 300 truckloads. Approximately 5,600 yds3 of backfill soil is available on-site and will be used to fill in the excavated areas. The remaining soil will be redistributed to restore the Site, resulting in a two-foot thick layer of soil above the surrounding grade. If additional soil is needed, clean fill material will be imported from off-site sources consistent with DTSC's Information Advisory - Clean Imported Fill Material (October 2001). The maximum level of lead found at the site was 209,000 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg) and the cleanup goal is 320 mg/kg.
