Document Description
The Monterey County Jail is located at 1410 Natividad Road in the City of Salinas. The jail currently has 825 beds with an inmate population of ~1,100. The proposed project includes the addition of 576 new beds, as well as other facility improvements. The County currently has funding for 288 beds; therefore implementation of the proposed project is anticipated in two phases. Phase I will involve new building construction to expand the existing facility by 61,000 sf to accommodate 288 additional beds; Phase II will construct an additional 61,000 sf building adjacent to the proposed building in Phase I to accommodate another 288 beds. Thus, the project includes a total of 122,000 sf of new building construction to accommodate 576 new beds.
