Document Description
The California Energy Commission is providing a 12 month, no-cost time extension to Gran PIR-10-062 supporting this existing project to characterize the CO2 storage potential of the Pliocene and Mioceneage rock formations in the Wilmington Graben. The Energy Commission-funded ongoing project elements include age rock formations in the Wilmington Graben. The Energy Commission-funded ongoing project elements include evaluation of existing two-dimensional and three-dimensional seismic data for the region; detailed evaluation of well logs from historical exploration wells in the area that will be compared and tied to more extensive onshore well data; development of three-dimensional geologic models, geomechanical models, and CO2 injection models for the region; comprehensive evaluation of the regional storage capacity and seals, along with an assessment of any risk associated with CO2 storage.
