Document Description
The OHMVR Division is proposing to acquire up to 60 privately-owned parcels (~28,500 acres) in eastern Kern County, California, from Renewable Resources Group. The parcels are largely interspersed with lands owned by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management in the western Mojave Desert, ~20 miles north of Mojave and west of State Route 14. Off-highway vehicle recreation occurs on many of the parcels, largely on designated roads and trails. The EIR for the proposed purchase will examine the direct and indirect environmental impacts associated with: 1) purchase of the parcels by the OHMVR Division from Renewable Resources Group, and 2) use and management of the parcels for ongoing recreation and resource protection. A general plan is not part of the current CEQA process.
