Document Description
On December January 3, 2013, the University adopted the Mitigated Negative Declaration and the Initial Study prepared for the proposed Merrill Capital Renewal Project and approved the Project. The Project, as described in the Initial Study and approved in January 2013, consisted of major maintenance and renovation of four student residence halls and the Guzman Suites student apartment building; improvements to the pedestrian circulation system and outdoor gathering spaces with Merrill College; and replacement of two small buildings with a new building of approximately 4,609 sf. The Project, as approved in January 2013, would add approximately 60 additional student bed spaces through reconfiguration of existing space and enclosure of existing stairwells and roof decks. The Project design has now been modified to include the demolition of the Guzman Suites apartments and associated infrastructure.
