Document Description
The purpose of the project is to improve safety and driving conditions on wet pavement in the project area. Drainage improvements include installing grated line drains, drainage inlets and pipe culverts; adjusting existing drainage inlets; grinding about 950 square yards of existing pavement with diagonal grooves to improve slope and drainage; and grading the terrain to prevent runoff. Beneficiaries of the project include truckers, commuters, emergency response teams and other drivers.

The project improves drainage on an existing highway and involves no expansion of use. All of the work will take place in Caltrans right of way. The project is designed to avoid adverse impacts to water quality. There are no endangered species in the project areas. Environmental commitments include measures to protect migratory birds. There will be no community, air quality or noise impacts or impacts to cultural or paleontological resources.
