Document Description
This project will be "Phase I" of a two phase interim facility developed to assist in the establishment of a naturally reproducing and self-sustaining population of Chinook Salmon, as part of the San Joaquin River Restoration Program. The Department of Fish and Game is in the process of developing the San Joaquin River Salmon Conservation and Research Facility. The facility will be constructed on State property at the existing San Joaquin State Fish Hatchery (SJH). While the full-scale facility is under development, an interim rearing facility (approximately 2,500 square feet) will be temporarily established and operated. The interim facility will be used for critical experimental rearing of fall-run Chinook salmon in preparation for fish reintroduction activities. The interim facility will undergo two phases.
