Document Description
The Invasive Aedes response plan is based on the principles and guidelines in the Center for Disease Control 2016 Zika CDC Interim Response Plan and the CA Dept. of Public Health Guidance for Surveillance of and Response to Invasive Aedes Mosquitoes and Dengue, Chikungunya and Zika in CA. It is based on their pattern of laying eggs at the water lines of small, oft times cryptic containers with small volumes of water and the limited flight range of these Aedes species. Detection of these mosquitoes is is usually based on complaints of local residents about aggressive day-biting mosquitoes. Teams of specially trained vector control personnel will inspect the property of complainants for Aedes eggs, larvae, pupae or adult mosquitoes. If Aedes_are detected, then adjoining properties within 100 meters will also be examined. Additional evidence of Aedes will expand the area to be examined by an additional 100 meters.
