Document Description
The project involves the development and operation of a hardrock quarry over approximately half of the 672-acre Project Site. The approx. 348-acre Quarry Area will encompass an aggregate mine that will not exceed 257-acres and a processing plant/operations/access road area that will not exceed 92 acres. The remaining area of the Project site will be placed into an approximately 324-acre Exclusion Area which will be completely avoided for the life of the Project. Project implementation will commence in 2018 and the quarry will operate for 97 years, at which time aggregate mining/processing will cease and a three-year reclamation phase will commence. The Project will result in impacts to 348 acres of California tiger salamander habitat including the permanent loss of 345 acres of upland aestivation habitat and 3 acres of breeding habitat. The project is expected to result in incidental take of California tiger salamander, which is designated as a threatened species under the California Endangered Species Act (CESA). The ITP referenced above as issued by CDFW authorizes incidental take of species listed under CESA that may occur as a result of Project implementation.
