Document Description
DWR is proposing to remediate seepage by constructing a cement-bentonite slurry wall through the existing levee that protects an urban residential area and State Highway 4 near the Garwood Bridge where is crosses the San Joaquin River. This proposed construction completes the repair of a critical erosion site at RM 43.2R. Waterside erosion was repaired in 2008. The levee crown would be temporarily degraded down 3 feet to provide a more stable platform for slurry wall construction. A 2-foot-wide cement-bentonite slurry wall would be constructed at the levee crown midline to an average depth of 40 feet. The crown would be then be rebuilt and the crown road resurfaced. No excavation would occur in the channel and construction would occur only from the landside.
