Document Description
The Project will bring the WWTP into compliance with new effluent limits, address concerns with effluent toxicity, and support the City's Integrated Water Resources Plan. The Project will involve: 1) upgrading the WWTP treatment process to an advanced secondary treatment process that meets the effluent limitations and the Salinas River receiving water limitations; and 2) converting the existing Pond No. 3 into an effluent polishing channel that mimic a natural creek. The WWTP upgrades will involve constructing a new headwork's facility with grit removal, a rehabilitated primary clarification process, an activated sludge process with secondary clarifiers for biological nutrient removal, chlorination and dechlorination facilities, a cogeneration system to produce electric power and heat, a standby power generation system, an approximately 4,000-square foot canopy building (pole barn) for storing collection system maintenance equipment, and an approximately 6,000-square foot administrative/operations building near the WWTP entrance.
