Document Description
This phase of the project consists of approving the draft and final project plans and project manual for the first three berths in the Shore Power Program (Berths 56-58); advertising for construction bids, resolving and bid protests, and awarding and executing the construction contract for shore power infrastructure at berth 56-58.
The Port's Maritime Utilities Upgrade Project, as described in the Initial Study/Negative Declaration, consists of two elements:
1. The phased construction and operation of shore power improvements at the Port's marine terminals to reduce air quality impacts from engines of ships at berth, in compliance with California Air Resources Board (CARB) regulations. The system would consist of either an electrical grid-based power source, transmissions system, and related power distribution system or an on-site power generation system; and
2. The design-build and operation of a perimeter intrusion detection security system on and at the perimeter of the marine terminals, in order to improve security at the Port.
