Document Description
APL Limited, a tenant of the Port of Oakland (Port), submitted a Port building permit application for installation of a cold ironing (shore power) distribution and delivery system. Work will include construction of a new electrical substation, connected to PG&E power, installation of conduits for electrical distribution to docked ships, and installation of portable equipment for ship connection. The proposed maritime utilities upgrade project that encompasses phased construction and operation of shore power improvements at the marine terminals to reduce air quality impacts from engines of ships at berth, in compliance with California Air Resources Board (CARB) regualtions; and the design-build and operation of a perimeter intrusion detection security system on and at the perimeter of the marine terminals, in order to improve security at the Port.
