Document Description
NOTE: Extended review per lead. Reclamation is proposing to temporarily change Friant Dam operation in WY 2010 (October 1, 2009 through September 30, 2010) to release WY 2010 Interim Flows from Friant Dam in the San Joaquin River and potentially downstream (potentially through the use of the Eastside Bypass) as far as the Delta, as specified in the Stipulation of Settlement in NRDC, et. al. v. Kirk Rodgers, et. al., and as part of the SJRRP. Consistent with a Memorandum of Understanding with the Settling Parties and the State, the California Natural Resources Agency will play a major role in funding and implementing actions called for in the Settlement and in the Act. DWR, along with several other State organizations, will implement actions needed to route WY 2010 Interim Flows through the Restoration Area including the potential use of the Eastside Bypass. The WY 2010 Interim Flows would be recaptured by existing water diversion facilities along the San Joaquin River or in the Delta for agricultural, municipal and industrial, or fish and wildlife uses. The project would not involve construction activities. The purpose of the Proposed Action is to implement the provisions of the Settlement pertaining to WY 2010 and collect relevant data to guide future releases of Interim Flows and Restoration Flows under the SJRRP.
