Document Description
The San Diego Unified School District proposes to convert an existing wood shop into a music center at Point Loma High School. All construction will occur within the existing building and no modifications would be made to the exterior of the building. During construction all contractor trailers, cargo containers, lay down areas, etc., will be located within the school grounds or within the Loma Portal Elementary School area.

The proposed project is Categorically Exempt under § 15303 - New Construction or Conversion of Small Structures of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines. This project is considered exempt because: 1. The proposed project will be located on the high school campus in the area where the existing wood shop building is located; 2. Although the interior use of the classroom building will change, no modifications to the exterior of the building will occur; 3. The area within and surrounding the project site is not environmentally sensitive; 4. It will serve the existing student population; and, 5. It does not have the potential to trigger any of the exceptions identified in CEQA Guidelines § 15300.2.
