Document Description
Approval of a Draft Final RAW by the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) pursuant to Health & Safety Code, chapter 6.8. as submitted on May 16, 2008 by Robinson Enterprises, Inc. The Draft Final RAW focuses on excavation and removal to mitigate soils impacted with excessive levels of arsenic from mine wastes (mine spoils) and the sealing of two adits discharging water containing arsenic from a seasonal spring. The purpose of the project is to mitigate impacted soils that exceed the project-specific human health risk criteria to minimize human exposure to arsenic, the chemical of concern. The estimated volume of impacted soil is 200 cubic yards or approximately 15 truckloads. The cleanup level for arsenic in soil is 7 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg) and is based on the background concentration of arsenic at the Site and surrounding areas (e.g., approximately 1 to 7 mg/kg). The sealing of the adits will be accomplished by placing a two foot thick reinforced concrete plug across the entry of the adits. The plug will anchored into the walls, ceiling, and floor of the adits, preventing the discharge of the spring water. Project activities are tentatively scheduled to commence in spring 2009 and are expected to take approximately 7 to 10 days to complete.
