Document Description
The Applicant proposes to alter streambeds within the San Juan Hydrologic Unit to "enhance ecological function" of the San Juan Hydrologic Unit by removing non-native invasive plants including giant reed (Arundo donax), tamarisk, (Tamarisk sp.), pampas grass (Cortaderia sp.), invasive palms, acacia, eucalyptus and other species that are invasive and degrading riparian habitat. The program will involve herbicide treatment of non-native plants, reduction of biomass when vegetation is dense (in areas of 0.25 acres or larger), and re-vegetation with native plants. Treatment and removal of invasive plants would occur over a priod of 5 yrs.
