Document Description
California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes to replace the San Gabriel River Bridge #53-2245 (bridge) on SR 39 /PM 31.2. The project consists of two phases. The first phase consists of realigning the road approach and departure for the new bridge. The second phase will consist of constructing a new bridge open-span bridge, and demolishing the existing bridge structure.
The existing bridge is described as a continuous 3 span Girder Bridge. Additionally, the existing bridge has two single column piers and open-end abutments on double column bents. The south abutment was installed using spread footing. The north abutments and column piers are supported on driven steel piles. The third pier is located inside the active channel of the North Fork San Gabriel River.
