Note: Review Per Lead; FYI: Addendum The proposed revision of the existing CUP #06-0003 submitted by the County Sanitation District #2 of Los Angeles, is to utilize the rail yard "for materials other than municipal solid waste." The applicant's state that the MRL may not receive any containers of municipal solid waste during the next ten years. Initially, the commodities to be handled in the rail yard would be agricultural products, such as hay, originating primarily within the irrigated areas of Imperial County. The applicant is anticipating generating two unit trains per week, which would represent approx 45 trucks per day. Phase I would handle approx 150,000 to 230,000 tons of hay per year originating in the Calipatria agricultural area. Phase II would include an additional 150,000 to 230,000 tons of hay per year from agricultural areas to the northeast of the MRL sit sealed in containers approx 44 miles, representing an 88 mile round trip. Typical truck activity at the MRL site will occur from 4 am to 6pm.
