Document Description
In December 2005, the roadway on Route 96 was damaged due to the federally declared winter storm events of 2005/2006. The steep hillside above the roadway at this location became saturated and actively failed, causing extensive amounts of landslide debris to close the highway. To protect the roadway as well as the traveling public net barrier system was implemented and a retaining wall was replaced. The net barrier consists of two Fences, one to form a catchment - basin area above the roadway and the other a GEOBRUGG Barrier Fence along the roadway to prevent rocks and materials from hitting or encroaching on the highway. The retaining wall was constructed from concrete and wood lagging, and was built to match a neighboring wall. A concrete rail was built on top of the new retaining wall as well.
