The Department of Toxic Substance Control has approved a Remedial Action Plan for the Schlage OU, which consists of remediation of contaminated soils with volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and metals (lead, arsenic and cadmium); and groundwater with VOCs. The soil remediation consists of treating of approximately 15,000 cubic yards of soil contaminated with VOCs by aeration and capping of approximately 22,000 cubic yards of soil contaminated with metals. The groundwater will be treated through an Enhanced Reductive Dechlorination (ERD) process using sodium lactate.
