Document Description
The project consists of the placement of approximately 350-400 cubic yards of clean, rock fill on the surface of an existing sawmill yard. The fill is to be provided by Caltrans from an off-site location. The fill is to be spread and graded to form a level surface for the operation of heavy equipment and the decking of logs. A CDF Archaeological Site survey of the project has been conducted. There are no cultural or historical sites in the vicinity of the sawmill yard requiring protection. CDF Associate Archaeologist has been consulted in regard to the proposed project.

Notice of Exemption

Exempt Status
Categorical Exemption
Type, Section or Code
Section 15304
Reasons for Exemption
The project is exempt as it will result in only a minor alteration to the surface of an existing sawmill yard. The area presently has an irregular surface of compacted gravel/soil fill material. The deposit of additional rock fill material will result in a more uniform surface for equipment operations and log storage within the yard. No surface vegetation is present within the area to be treated.
