Document Description
The proposed project includes implementation of a portion of Phase 1 of the City's Water Master Plan to improve capacity, reliability and efficiency of the City's water treatment and distribution systems, including (1) Raw Water Pump Station Improvements at the base of Shasta Dam, which entails adding a 350 hp pump equipped with a variable speed drive and adding a second suction header with a 16-inch basket strainer to the pump station. The new discharge header would be cut into the existing 16-inch pipeline and a new 500-gallon bladder-type surge tank would be added. Te Stage 1 improvements would include all the suction and discharge manifold piping needed for installation of another 400 hp pump in Stage 2. The existing transformer would be upgraded from about 900 KVA to 1,500 KVA and a new service panel would be added for the two additional 400 hp pumps. In Stage 3, it will also be necessary to modify the existing motor control center to accommodate two 400 hp pumps, instead of the existing four smaller pumps; (2) Water Treatment Plan improvements include installation of a new 12,000 gallon raw water tank and conversion of the existing tank to a clear watere tank; (3) Water distribution system improvements include replacement of a 20" main from the Water Treatment Plant to Centimudi Hill, a distance of approximately 2,200 feet located within existing right-of-way (Lake Boulevard) and/or utility easements; replacement of an 18" Transmission Main from Lake Boulevard to a point approximately 900 feet north of the existing City Water Tank No. 5, a distance of approximately 2,300 feet, located on City-owned properties; a new 18" main from a point approximately 900 feet north of the existing City Water Tank No. 5, easterly to Linda Lane, a distance of approximately 2,900 feet located on City-owned property and existing City right-of-way (Linda Lane); and replacement of an existing 6" main with a 12" main on Hardenbrook Avenue from Main Street, north to Pensacola Street a distance of approximately 1,300 feet.
