The project is the implementation of a conjunctive water management program that will use surface and groundwater resources to improve water supply reliability and to provide additional water supply to the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta. The project consists of four elements: (1) two production wells with the combined estimated pumping capacity of 8,000 gallons per minute; (2) a recharge program to help basin groundwater levels recover; (3) a monitoring program to track changes in groundwater levels, monitoring of the groundwater quality, and an evaluation of the project pumping effects on groundwater resources of the subbasin; and (4) an educational program.
