Document Description
The RAW for the proposed Walnut Elementary Education Center (Site) addresses the removal of up to 264 in-place cubic yards of soil contaminated with lead and OCPs from within the two-acre area of the proposed 20-acre school site. No student, faculty, staff, or unauthorized persons will be on the site during the proposed remedial actions scheduled to be completed prior to construction of the proposed school. Access to the project site shall be limited by the exclusion zone. The exclusion zone shall include an area at least 20 feet from the excavation, stockpile area, and excavation equipment. Appropriate temporary fencing will be installed prior to begining the excavation process to ensure public and worker safety.

This remedial action is intended to eliminate the threat of a release that could expose sensitive populations at a school site. The proposed removal and disposal, assuming that all contaminated soils will be sent to a Class 1 disposal facility is $148,075.
