The Calaveras Dam Replacement Project (CDRP) includes the replacement of the existing Calaveras dam with a new earth and rock-fill dam that will accommodate a public water supply reservoir of the same size as the original 1920s plans (96,850 Acre Feet) in order to meet Division of Safety of Dams (DSOD) requirements. When the replacement dam is completed, DSOD restrictions will be lifted and the original reservoir pool will be restored to the normal maximum water surface elevation of 756 feet.
